Time for a change
I thought I would let everyone know about my name change. My old business name was Crochet A la Carte. It means "according to the menu". The items I was selling at the time were based on my latest designs, hence "according to the menu". It was a cute play on words, but it no longer suits me, or my business.
I have had some major changes in my life over the past 3 or 4 years, with a name change, and a move across Canada to my hometown in BC! I've also stopped, or at least paused, my crochet as a business. I am thinking of getting back into it, although I doubt it will be full time. My heart is set on helping women with my new business, of Empowerment Life Coaching (Deidre Knopp Coaching). I know how hard it can be for women to make major changes in their lives, and finally BE the person they were meant to be. To LIVE the LIFE they have wanted for SO long! I've been there, and I'm doing it, and I want to reach back and bring them along with me!
That being said, I DO love to create! But these days it's not just crochet. I have found more loves to welcome into my life. Like boro and shasiko, which is the art of Japanese visible mending.
Or Kawandi, which is a type of scrap quilting, entirely by hand!
Or making art pieces, which I love to tuck into a small plastic bag with a note to say it's a gift to brighten your day. I like to leave them in public places for people to find.
I even love to create in the kitchen! I used to love cooking, but over the years it got to be a chore. One which I dreaded. I'm now back in the kitchen and THIS time I'm doing it MY way! I'm experimenting with new dishes, new recipes, and new ethnic dishes. I'm making things *I* want to try. And I'm loving it, the process, and just being in the kitchen, in flow, in my happy place!
So, in order to represent the NEW me, I have chosen Deidre Knopp Designs, because I am finally owning my name, as I am ME. and I chose Designs, as I might start including more types of arts, as I am a multi-craftual, a multi-artistic, a multi-faceted person and I wanted to represent that part of me.
I hope you enjoy the new blog. :0)
